KILL THE IMAGE. - C.D.
.
With the band name on a purple background Kill The Image have a three track C.D. that were on sale for a cheap price at their gigs or get in touch and ask about. No mention of the studio where some/all of the tracks were recorded although I happen to know the Lucid cut studios were involved along with some part payment help with the Bedford Sid Worth Memorial Tribute Fund.
Such a gentle start to DANCE WITH YOUR DEMONS, making you wonder which direction the song is going to go in. It picks up though, with plenty of vigour, skilfully mixing soft tones with the sort of rock out fevering edges that would go down well live. Never before has the lovely Lisas vocals sounded so confidently belted out with all the strength needed to compliment the bands sound.
OUR GENERATION made me worry when I saw the title, wondering if it may be a Who cover, fear not though, its a new original with the same name, societies expectations eh?
It all sounds very indie rock with no overpowering guitar blasts to spoil the ambience.
DANGER ZONE is quite a vocal piece with instruments just tapping along nicely in the breeze in the background at some places and more prominent in others. The chanting parts add another dimension lending the song more oomph. With this being quite vocally led I think with a lesser singer it wouldnt have the same song potential and appeal.
Seeing live, their drummer throws himself in to the part twirling the sticks like a drummer gymnast and here giving a competent drum section throughout.
Perhaps blander than my usual heavier tastes but still a good, well played listen.
On a sad note possibly their last C.D. and last gig to come Im led to understand, before other ventures beckon.
