Pujols |
1B |
90-66 |
0.577 |
I had him as the top hitter on my draft list. Bonds - a better
hitter -- was less desired due to the 2 injury rating |
This cell is not large enough. I would go through the leader
boards and he would be leading or be in second in almost every category that
mattered. |
A++ |
League
MVP. He excelled in all areas. Base stealing, defense as well as hitting. 7
homers short of the triple Crown. |
| 2 |
Loaiza |
SP |
|
|
I didn’t really see any other choice. Not that I minded the
selection. He was the 6th starter selected and finished as the 5th or 6th
best. He and Mulder were the last of the top grade Z's w/G's. |
|
B |
He pitched well. His numbers don’t necessarily reflect it. He
ate up innings and he faced the tough starters. |
| 3 |
Edmonds |
CF |
79-57 |
.581 |
I
had him as the top CF - games were a factor but I planned on taking Bradley
to fill in the games missed. |
The only real disappointment on the team. Near the tops in the
league in runners left on base and top 10 in GIDP. I expected the DP's as he
had runners on all the frickin time |
C- |
All the CF were terrible. I didn’t expect Beltran and Edmonds to
be this bad though. I would say he was the largest underachiever on the team
and maybe in the league as a whole. But he had a strong finish and had the
best Runs created/ game for CF |
| 4 |
Sanders |
OF |
62-54 |
.534 |
There weren't many corner OF with power and speed/SB (Sheffield,
Sanders, Abreu & Mondesi). My choice was Sanders and he didn’t let me
down. |
Games 32 thru 55 for Sanders 22 games. 34-90. 7 2b 14 HR 18 r 40
RBI |
A- |
He actually went ahead of Pujols in homers at one point - then
he was injured 4 times and missed 37 games and was 2 PA away from qualifying
in the top 10 in a lot of categories. |
| 5 |
R Soriano |
RP |
|
|
Steve was correct when this was the largest sigh heard during
the draft. If someone else would have selected him - I am not certain who I
would have selected for this pick as I had RP targeted. The last of the high
grade relievers. |
|
A- |
Probably more valuable as a playoff pitcher than regular season.
He would only pitch once or twice during a 5 game stretch but could pitch 3
times during the 7 game playoff series. He had my two playoff victories. |
| 6 |
Halladay |
SP |
|
|
Double Z? He pitched like one in all the replays (2.0 walks/9)
finished 3rd behind Redman and Loiaza. |
He started the season
6-1 |
C |
He led the league in run support. His final numbers are decent
but considering the run support he should have finished with a better winning
percentage. |
| 7 |
Webb |
SP |
|
|
I wanted the G and didn’t mind the non Z +0 move. |
Back to back shutouts |
C- |
I didn’t have too much faith in him until he had back to back
shutouts and 24 consecutive scoreless innings. |
| 8 |
A Soriano |
2B |
88-63 |
.583 |
I liked the
power/speed/SB. |
|
C+ |
Fortunately,
he could bat 7th and I didn’t need to hit him higher in the lineup with his
low OBP. |
| 9 |
Bradley |
OF |
60-41 |
.594 |
He
is exactly the guy needed to supplement Edmonds and Sanders. |
.93 runs scored per games played. Pujols was .84 |
A |
Too bad he couldn’t play more. The lineup was the best when he
started. |
| 10 |
Borowski |
RP |
|
|
mid grade w/ Z & G. innings and games are decent |
|
B |
He had a decent season. He had a poor stretch midseason
otherwise he pitched pretty well. |
| 11 |
Walker |
OF |
83-57 |
.593 |
I wanted the walks and OBP |
Bradley scored more one more run but he and Walker were a pretty
deadly 1 2 |
B |
Led the league for LF for assists and DP. Started slowly
finished well |
| 12 |
Young |
3B |
92-62 |
.597 |
I had choices at this point. I almost took Blalock but stayed
with the switch hitter and games played. |
|
C |
Never really stood out as a slugger. His runs/game were decent
for someone selected in the 12th. Last in Defense @ 3B. Best winning pct of
the regulars. |
| 13 |
Stairs |
DH |
67-52 |
.563 |
I almost took Mientky here but I went with the power. |
|
B- |
He had some game winning and game tying homers. I wish I could
find out how many. RBI total was low then he had a great finish to fall in
the correct RBI range. |
| 14 |
Williams |
SP |
|
|
the last of the 11G. J4 be damned. |
Shutout Springfield in opening series |
D+ |
He struggled to keep his strikeouts per 9 higher than walks per
9. He pitched well occasionally but not frequently enough. |
| 15 |
Fuentes |
RP |
|
|
Lefty with a lot of games and innings. +3 move |
|
C |
Great
then awful. Great then awful. He came in a lot with a base runner that could
steal. |
| 16 |
Johnson |
C |
63-45 |
.583 |
Power with defense |
He hit well from
the 9 spot all season |
B+ |
60 + RBI's from the 9 spot as a 2/3 games performer. What more
could you ask? |
| 17 |
Jeter |
SS |
64-50 |
.561 |
The last of the starting SS. Limited games and limited SL
abilities. |
|
C |
I don’t know. What do you demand from your 8th hitter? He did
well hitting in the 2 hole as a DH late in the season. |
| 18 |
Ross |
C |
25-14 |
.641 |
Great power with moderate defense. Good backup |
|
B |
2nd Catcher. He caught a lot vs Chris and some vs Keith as I
thought they had the worst stealing teams. He had a better throwing pct than
Johnson. |
| 19 |
Wilson |
C |
11-10 |
.524 |
Great defense. Some power |
He was 2nd on the team in
SH |
C |
Pinch Runner. Started occasionally. 50% opponent stolen base
pct. 6 sac hits in 45 PA's |
| 20 |
Worrell |
RP |
|
|
Games with a G |
|
C |
I had no faith in him but he was near the top on my team for
inherited runners |
| 21 |
Bordick |
IF |
30-16 |
.652 |
3 IF positions. I wanted the 9 at SS |
Ripped a two out, two run double off Mota |
C |
He did what I expected. Not much offense. Filled in for Soriano
during his injuries. |
| 22 |
Rolls |
3B |
|
|
Thought
he would make a great PR/Defensive Replacement. |
2 PA. HBP and sacrifice bunt. |
inc. |
I realized at the end of the draft that Jeter could get injured
for and extended period of time and that I would have to play Bordick. So, I
decided to get rid of Rolls at the 40 game mark. |
| 23 |
Fe Rod |
RP |
|
|
I wanted another reliever with a G |
8/9 in save situations. 8-2 record |
B- |
Who would have expected this performance from this guy? |
| 24 |
May |
SP |
|
|
Lefty 10. I decided to limit his innings from day one. |
3 shutouts. Any extra innings out of him was a blessing |
C |
Occasionally
had a big game. Otherwise, he pitched better than expected during his very
limited innings. |
| 25 |
Ford |
OF |
15-9 |
.625 |
A final piece to the OF/DH puzzle. He could also play CF |
He had
some great games. He batted 1 thru 5 in the lineup. |
A- |
He had some big hits during his 34 games. It seemed his only
limitation was games played. |
| 26 |
Mateo |
RP |
|
|
Double Z?? 2 innings per appearance? Why not? |
|
B- |
Everyone must have been scared away from his L home run rating.
I was surprised he was still available this late. He was a great addition to
my existing bullpen. |
| 27 |
Milton |
XP |
|
|
Lefty with a Z |
|
C |
What can you say about your 6th starter? He used up all his
games and innings. |
| FA Draft |
Guillen |
SS/3B |
19-15 |
.559 |
I wanted the SS/3B combination so I wouldn’t have to start
Bordick if Jeter was injured. Jeter was injured twice. Guillen received the
bulk of the starts @ SS |
|
C- |
He didn’t really do too much. Neither did Jeter when Jeter
started either. I did not have too high of expectations. |
| Xtra SP |
Gregg |
XXP |
|
|
Milton ran out of starts. The best of the worst??? |
|
inc. |
I don’t think he went more than 5 innings in any of his starts.
7th starter. |
