22 August 2002 The reserves started off the new season with a pleasing win against near neightbours Abingdon Town - 1-0. Tom Waterhouse scoring the decisive goal that all the play of the first half merited. Kelvin Alexis, City Reserve Manager said," A very pleasing result, with some good performances. Notably the lads in midfield who passed the ball well and kept it moving and we looked comfortable at the back." Abingdon had chances in the second half to snatch a win, but it was Tom's late header that proved the difference.
