Silence is Golden
Oxford City have pulled the plug on Wycombe Wanderers whipping up their fans with drum rolls at next Tuesday's FA Cup replay.

Wycombe blasted out the drum beat over the tannoy every time they won a corner during last Saturday's 1-1 first-round draw.

But, although City have conceded home advantage with the replay also at Adams Park,

the non-league outfit call the tune over how the game is staged - and chairman Mick Woodley has decided silence is golden.

He said, "I thought the jungle bongo drum music was a bit distracting, although some of our players said they disn't even notice it. Now it's our game, we have stopped them doing it on the day."

It's understood the move hasn't gone down well with Wycombe,

where manager Lawrie Sanchez introduced it to boost the atmosphere.

"Apparently he said there was no atmosphere in the ground and he wanted to whip up the crowd," said Woodley.

And City's chief added mischievously,"We might just want to play something of our own.

"What I would have liked to have done when we got a corner was to play that music for ourselves, but that is probably taking the mickey!"
