About

P.i.x.l.F.u.x.a - what's that?

Well, it just means someone doing digital artwork who cares for every single pixel; which I try (sometimes..) And it is no abbreviation (there would be a final dot then). The dots are just to make it look nicer ..

A few words about me and my work:

'METACHRON' (January 1998)

First attempt to create an object purely for the sake of beauty.
A classic - also presented in animated form. Repeatedly requested for poster size printout.

'AETERNITAS' (November 1997)

My very first serious attempt to create a computer generated picture.
The classic - still and silent. Repeatedly requested for poster size printout.

'All Yer Tears In Ye Aipryl Wynde' (April 1999)

Great ado about some flying umbrellas ...

'Naissance' (March 1999)

We're being really far out here. Strange offsprings are emerging, being welcomed by the elders.

'Beyond The Realms Of Grief And Fear ' (March 1999)

Where the usual concerns of everyday life don't matter any more.
Re-orientation.

'Cosmic Samowars Refilled' (June 1998)

Now that's got a funny story. I was working on a map (2D texture) for gooseberries. It didn't look really delicious, though, so I decided to see what else it might be good for. The next try was a water-reservoir-tower (a simple step from a gooseberry - a giant leap for art?). In the end I liked to have my towers fly and hover about - that's how the cosmic samowars came to exist.

Donna D'Amelio (Webdancer) wrote: I thought this was a very interesting surrealistic creation. The water running up into the 'ships' rather than down is what caught my attention first. It's an image full of reflection and refraction, both figuratively as well as literally speaking. The color's draw you right into the scene and I hope you'll click on the image to get the full effect of this creation.

'In The King`s Palace (1)' (January 1999)

The first study using my newly created organ-pipes. More to come soon...

'Silenced' (September .. December 1998)

Elaborate study on architecture and its relationship to emotions. This is definitely not situated in our world as we know it. Although very rich in details, it depicts a simple truth which is related to our life today...
I present a detail of the picture (the tap) in the stereo section.
This is by the way the area where I started the whole composition.

'Stabmate (Unexpected Invitation)' (July 1998)

I had just created a set of chess pieces and was experimenting with walls and how to make them look more natural. In this case I modelled a set of different clay-bricks (actually it is loam). This is what finally came out when combining these elements.

'Divan Of Secret Desire (Allways Lookin` For The Damn` Slippers' (December 1998)

My first steps in designing furniture. Not of this earth, although maybe resembling one or another vacation resort here or there. The guest obviously left very suddenly. And there is reason for it...

'Edith`s Camping Box (Rubber Boots Recycler)' (June 1998)

A picture to create stories for. Asked to do so, especially children often don't hesitate to make up their own. The 'rubber boots recycling machine' one was provided by a neighbour girl (thanks Andrea), and Edith, wife of my co-villager Mario, found the final title at her first glance at the screen (Don't you see her Badminton racks?)

'Encounter On Baquaylon 7' (November 1998)

Just to create a nice 'unearthly marine' scenery. No significance whatsoever. Anyway - I still like it.

'Emerging Without A Cause (Blub)' (October 1998)

Yet another marine scenery with a strange object and distant shores, playing around with materials and Boolean operators.

'Gormen`s Decision' (June 1998)

A set of vent pipes had attracted my attention every morning on my way to the lab. One day I decided they where due to be re-modelled and set in scene somehow. At that time Gormen was a young fella having quite some trouble learning his job in the company. Very soon it appeared to me to dedicate that picture to him. Actually he seems to kinda like it.

'Summer Whisperers (Hommage To De Chirico And Magritte)' (May 1998)

Combining Great Grandmaster Giorgio De Chirico`s 'Red Tower' (and fluttering pennants) with one of Rene Magritte`s typical bells, this design was primarily created in memoriam of these two cornerstones of modern art. A nosey vent pipe in the background is listening to the dialog of the two primitive hydrants in the foreground. What are they talking about? Are they nuts ?

'Radical Bibemus' (August 1998)

The bottles are emptied to the last drop.
This is a mere study with which I tested some little programs I had written to create meshes of seashells, columns, mechanical parts and -bottles out of their shapes. Finally I added the lemon slice and the whiskey puddle (in front of the glass) to make it look nicer.
Notice - there are only 4 bottles and the glass - the rest of what you see is due to 3 mirrors.

'Ool - Nja Ool?' (May 1998)

The lurking jackal and the rhubarb sprout. I doubt that sprout nourishes without doing serious harm to the careless. Is it to be eaten at all?
Is it Ool as Ringo Starr puts it in his film Caveman?

'Ye Olde Metaphysicyste' (June 1998)

Perhaps the most simple design I ever created. Didn't take an hour to set it up.
But - the image I definitely like most of all. The most primitive form I ever managed to bring to life.

'Past Future' (January 1999)

The second of my 'Metaphysical Eggs' series. More of them ovoids to come...

'Hidden Protection' (April 1998)

Usually I stay away from space crafts and other typical Sci-Fi motives, as they are done to death. This is one of the few exceptions. I present only the stereoscopic version just for the 3D effect.

'Who`s That On Top?' (June 1998)

Simply a study of stairs and suitable materials. As a gimmick I added a figure outside the picture, visible only in its reflections. Presented as stereo only.

'In The Marshlands' (May 1998)

During that period I enjoyed combining smooth golden surfaces with rocky structures (as in the pyramid picture). In this case I used a picture map from a photo of a river pebble. Only the stereo is shown.

'Marooned In Another World' (December 1997)

Main task was to create an environment fitting to that odd 70's colors Karin had on as well as to her unusual pose (in the original photo she was leaning against a brick wall).
With all its beginner's flaws, this image is a far more interesting presentation than the portrait it is based on.

'Moni's Arctic Joyride' (July 1998)

Time was overdue for a present to surprise my old friend and colleague Moni with. Meant to be for a surprise, I could hardly ask herself for a photo, so I asked her boyfriend to get me one. It depicted her with her baby son early in the morning sitting in the kitchen. The quality is awful, but I tried it anyway. Here is the result. The icy atmosphere was meant to complete her facial expression. The shell was computed by the same little program I also used for the bottles. The image map for the shell was also a photo: an apple halved some minutes ago provided that mottled look.
Pity I couldn't really improve the photo part sufficiently...

'Top On The Table' (May 1998)

Another sort of portrait remaining a portrait but still changing into something slightly different.

'Carina Taming The Moloch' (June 1998)

Real struggle of a real girl with a real machine - just seen with different eyes.

'Deep Into The Woods' (September 1998)

This stereogram spans an enormous depth range and yields one of the most striking stereoscopic effects I ever saw. Without stereoscopic perception it is really nothing worth looking at.

'You Know `Em' (September 1998)

On a walk through the woods these are common decorative forms of nature very well suitable for a stereo pair.

'Memorial' (November 1998)

On my way to a friend of mine I had been attracted by this little memorial every time I paid him a visit for months. As soon as I had the camera with me, I took the shots. Notice the pavement coming out of the picture.
