            Marathon Training Advice Group

The Group is:-

Steve Smith – First marathon in 1992 (London) and took 4hours 11 minutes. Completed first ultra distance race in 2007. Recently completed 9th marathon at Luton in a new sub 3:30 PB. Plans to run London and San Francisco in 2008.  steve-p.smith@ntlworld.com or steve.x.smith@berr.gsi.gov.uk

Phil Mazur – 19 marathons completed, 2 ultras (self-navigating and we got lost!); several Seven Sisters (cross-country); several Londons (fastest in 3 hrs 24 mins), one tiny local one at Halstead( my favourite!); 2 in Holland, 1 in France. Doing London Marathon with some cross-country marathons as training runs. phil.mazur@blueyonder.co.uk

Susan Haynes - 7 marathons completed since first FLM in 2002 (3 FLM, 2 New York, 2 walks over Seven Sisters!). Fastest 5 hours, though hoping go quicker than that in FLM 08. Living proof that you don’t have to be quick to run a marathon! Susan.Haynes@bromley.gov.uk

Paul Weir I have run seven marathons each one getting faster as I have trained better and smarter. And now as I have a better understanding on how the body works and why correcting muscle imbalances is so important  I can now see   where the improvements may have came from. I feel that I can run much faster and barring injury I am running Stratford upon Avon in April and will try and crack 3.30.  sweatandsmile@googlemail.com

Robin Jamieson  -  3 FLMs completed -first in 2002. Best 4:16 - Doing London in 2008 with target to beat the M60 club record of 4:05:52 (optimistic I think).  robin@jmsn.me.uk

Chris Morton - 4 marathons completed since first FLM in 2001 (2 FLM,  Rotterdam, Beachy Head). Fastest 3.13 in 2005 but had a disastrous run in  FLM 2007 : learning from mishaps can be as valuable as learning from successes. chris.morton@bbc.co.uk
